Love it

I really like what you have going here. I see a lot of potential. It sounds really quality, Be sure to message me when the full version comes out, I really want to hear the full thing. Even without singing, the song sounds full and very pleasing. The strings really add that extra touch that makes this sound so appealing.

Thanks man, i will do so :)

It's Sigur Ros!

To start, this review is coming from someone who has spent countless hours listening to Sigur Ros and other post-rock bands.

About what the guy below me said about the buildup being too slow, I would have to disagree. In the post-rock world (even though this is a computer-generated mix, you seem to be willing to keep the post-rock theme), too slow of a buildup is 9+ minutes. If anyone wants proof, go listen to Ara Batur (on the album Med sud i eyrum vid spilum endalaust). 7 minutes of buildup where nothing musically spectacular happens, and is still one of the best songs ever created. The buildup is fine (too short if anything). Maybe it could use a buildup to where a slight bass or synth is introduced at around 1:10 (just hypothetically) or so, and then have it's exposion at 2:15 or so (once again, I kind of randomly came up with it). Anyways, enough about the buildup.

Now about the repetitiveness. In order to keep this song from getting too repetetive, you must keep making subtle changes that in time become big changes that lead to explosions of delightful sound, keeping the same melody (about the 4 minute mark of Milano). Anyways, basically what I'm saying is that the repetitive melody is fine, although you must have the instruments around the melody be going somewhere. Of course, without the amazing 'hopelandic' singing of sigur ros, this will be difficult.

Also, something to consider would be (since this a computer-generated mix) to at some point change the melody into a synth of some kind. I'm not sure it would work, but it certainly is something that is worth experimenting with. Also, you could try layering the melody with one deeper reverberating synth while you have another more 'pingy?' cheerful trancy synth.

Now to the beat. I'm not really sure what to do about it. I mean, it sounds fine as it is, but it's not spectacular. In the original Milano, the use of cymbals is really what drives the song into euphoria. It would sound less techo-y that way, and I'm not sure if that's what you want, but anyway, just something to think about.

Well, that's my best attempt at just throwing out some things for you to think about. Throw away the crap in this review, and keep whatever you think is a good idea. Making a mix of anything Sigur Ros is certainly a task to be reckoned with. Good luck with this and the rest of your music!

Awesome. Thanks for the insight. I'm glad to see another Sigur Ros fan on NG. I'll say what I said before, it was a rough demo I put together in about an hour and a half on the FL8 demo and I couldn't save it, so the next time you hear this, it won't sound completely like this, if at all. But I see exactly what you're saying, and yes remixing Sigur Ros ain't easy. I've got all these ideas floating around in my head about how I want this to sound and I'm not sure how to pull it off. It'll take some time, but I'm pretty passionate about this mix so I will definitely take your advice seriously. Thanks a whole lot.

Genius

I love the amazing buildup to the wonderful explosion. The time past 5 minutes wouldn't have been so amazing if It weren't for the first 5 minutes. Transitions are great. The song is amazing. If you aren't happier after listening to this song, you aren't human.

ZOMGBIE responds:

Thanks for another review man. I tried to express what the 8 Melodies makes me feel whenever I hear it. I'm glad it made you happy.

Happy Hardcore

is pretty much the best music out there. And this is really good even withing the happy hardcore bubble. Good work mate.

Bahdshah responds:

hahaha, yeah i love happy hardcore, which is why i was driven to try create it xD

Wow

Spectacular work man, very relaxing and calming but also with a hint of rock. Definitely 10/10, 5/5 material. What really would have made this song 100/10 euphoric material would be a crazy explosion about a minute of time. It's just my personal taste to have that in songs, probably just from hours and days of me listening to post-rock. Still a great tune though. Keep up the good work.

merlin responds:

Thank you for not only taking the time to listen to my song, but the effort to comment on it. I really appreciate it. I'm sure one of these days I'll boot up the ol' sapphire tears, and definitely take to heart what you said.

Ground Pound

This song is the reason I'm in shape. Running is so much easier with this.

Dj-Brand0 responds:

Thanks mate, glad you liked it.

Brilliantly Done

This song is sad, but what makes this song great is that it also focuses on the beauty of sadness, the calming sensation that comes with tears.

Dj-Flux responds:

I'm glad you enjoyed it.
